Zion Evangelical Ministries of Africa, ZEMA, is a mission work based in southern Africa. ZEMA's primary ministry is Zion Evangelical Bible School (ZEBS) and the parallel women's school (ZWEBS). This Bible College takes 4 years of 10 lectures per month with associated homework to complete. All ten monthly lectures are given over one weekend. Courses are given at two primary campuses: Sunbury, 1/2 hour north of Durban, and Sondela, 6 hours south of Durban in Umtata Transkei. There are also 6 satellite campuses, usually about a 4-hour drive from a main campus. There is also one campus in Johannesburg. Two important secondary ministries are the Sondela pre-primary school and the Sunbury camp. The pre-primary school has over 150 students attending daily. Schools in the area give preference to Sondela children, as they know they have been given good basic preparation for the school system -something that is lacking in some pre-primaries. A large portion of the education is Bible based. The camp facilities at Sunbury are booked solid all year, except for the weeks that ZEBS is in session. Churches come from as far away as Durban to use these facilities for their camps. The missionaries take every opportunity to teach wherever possible, to encourage the church and to assist churches in practical ways like putting up tents for special church meetings. Literature is made available, and the Jesus Film is often shown. ZEMA missionaries also train and use short-term missionaries and guide teams who come for various ministries.
