JOB DESCRIPTION: MAINTENANCE MISSIONARY
 
This job description should be filled and shared by two male missionaries. The following job description details the responsibilities of this ministry position.

  1. Job Responsibilities

    1. The Maintenance Missionary (MM) is responsible for the maintenance of the buildings, the grounds and the equipment at Sunbury Christian Camp.
      1. Maintenance of the buildings would include:
        1. Repairs needed to Sunbury buildings and facilities
        2. Preventive maintenance and upkeep
        3. Ongoing maintenance, such as swimming pool care
        4. Minor improvements, such as installation of new equipment and alterations to buildings
      2. Maintenance of the grounds would include:
        1. Maintenance and possible new planting of grass, flower beds, bushes and trees
        2. Maintenance and upkeep of the garden equipment such lawn mowers and tools
        3. Maintaing the effective functioning of the electric fence
    2. The MM is responsible for the procurement of the necessary materials, spares and supplies for the maintenance and running of Sunbury.
    3. The MM is responsible for the oversight of the male full-time and temporary workers employed by Sunbury, including directing them in their daily responsibilities.
    4. It is understood that the above responsibilities will not require the MM to be always present at Sunbury during business hours. The MM has the freedom to set his own schedule. A set amount of work hours will not be required.
    5. It is hoped that the MM would be involved in any new building projects at Sunbury. However, it is understood that this involvement would be on a part-time basis only.
    6. It is understood that no one person is expert in all fields of maintenance. Where the MM feels uncomfortable to carry out the repairs himself, assistance will be provided or a qualified technician in the field will be hired.
    7. The MM along with his/her spouse when applicable will act as host and camp overseer during self-catering camps while the campers are present at Sunbury. This includes running the tuck shop/canteen and does not including catering.

  2. Presence at Sunbury

    1. It is the goal of ZEMA that a minimum of two couples reside at Sunbury and that at least one adult male be present at Sunbury each night. Therefore, one of the responsibilities of this post will be to coordinate schedules with others so as to abide by this principle whenever possible.
    2. It is the goal of ZEMA that two missionaries share the position of MM at Sunbury and that these responsibilities be divided appropriately between the individual missionaries in consultation with the Sunbury Committee.
    3. It is requested that of the two MM, one be on site during Zion Ministry camps for the purpose of emergency maintenance and assistance with transportation as necessary.
    4. It is the goal of ZEMA that MM will have every other weekend "Out," meaning they are completely off duty and relieved of all responsibility.
    5. It is requested that the MM manage his time and working hours to have the appropriate amount of time off for respite and relaxation on a regular basis.

  3. Remuneration

    1. Housing
      Suitable housing at Sunbury will be provided including water and electricity.
    2. Telephone
      The Mission will pay telephone line and rental charges.
    3. Leave
      This person is entitled to 30 day leave per annum. It is expected that full leave will be taken and responsibility coverage will be arranged with the other Sunbury families.

  4. Authority Structure and Finances

    1. The authority structure concerning the oversight of the Sunbury property is as follows:
      ZEMA Field Council
      Sunbury Committee
      Sunbury Chairperson
      Sunbury Maintenance Missionary
      Sunbury Employees
    2. At least one member of each family unit living at Sunbury will sit as a voting member of the Sunbury Committee.
    3. The Maintenance Missionary will have the authority to fulfill his/her responsibilities without obtaining any further permission.
    4. The MM will, within the confines of this agreement, have the authority to purchase materials, spares and supplies for the maintenance and running of Sunbury up to an amount not exceeding a fixed limit set by the Sunbury Committee.
    5. An appropriate arrangement for the funds to pay the above will be made with the ZEMA Field Treasurer.
    6. If possible, a mission vehicle will be used when needed in work responsibilities. When a mission vehicle is not available, work use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed monthly at a per kilometer rate determined by the Field Council.
    7. The MM will pay the cost of personal phone calls only.
