"Look and See" Internship – Short Term

In this internship, the intern would spend time in three or four different locations where ZEMA is considering putting a new missionary or missionary couple, shadowing the senior missionaries in that area and learning the different aspects of the various ministries. Camping Ministry Internship – Short Term

This internship is at Sunbury Christian Camp in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. The intern would be involved in ministries and tasks at Sunbury Christian Camp in line with his/her skills and experience and those needed at the time. The intern would be assigned specific duties that are a help to the career missionaries ministering at Sunbury. These duties would allow the intern contact with the Sunbury employed staff working on the Grounds, in Maintenance, and the Housekeeping Staff. Some ministry in local communities may be assigned by the missionary overseeing Community Ministries. Children's Ministry Opportunity – Short Term

In this internship, the intern would live in South Africa and work at the local preschools and Sunday schools. Christian Education/Cross Cultural Internship

General Description

  • We are looking for 2 to 3 interns with a heart for teaching children and equipping Sunday School teachers cross culturally.  These may apply to ZEMA as a group.
  • Modify curriculum, creating a series of themed lesson plans that are culturally sensitive to use in areas where staffing and material resources are limited.  This should include a variety of content.  (i.e. lecture, story-telling, memory work, drama, object lessons, pictures and hand craft.)
  • The first 3 to 4 weeks will be spent in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa for:
    • Cultural orientation
    • Creative development of a themed series of lessons (5-7).  This will be carried out in consultation with a missionary and local Sunday school teacher.
    • Plan and present a one day Sunday School Teacher Training (SSTT) seminar with the missionary and local teacher
  • The last 3 to 4 weeks will require independent travel by reliable public transport to three other areas of ministry in South Africa and Swaziland to present the one day SSTT seminar in those areas.

Mentoring Meetings

A weekly ministry debrief with the supervising ZEMA missionary.

  • Debrief the previous week.
  • Weekly goals, plans, location of the coming week.
  • Teaching content and preparation tips.
  • Midpoint review and final evaluation as required by your school.

Financial Outline of Costs that may be raised for ZEMA Internships

  1. Trip fees/transportation: An amount that pays for an airline ticket to East London, South Africa and 3 other tickets (domestic airline or bus) to the other locations.
  2. The daily rate is $50/day.  This amount covers
    1. room and board,
    2. transportation in South ,
    3. a local teacher to assist with curriculum development,
    4. remuneration of a translator during presentations, and
    5. one night in a South African Game Reserve.
  3. Stipend:  Up to $3000 to offset school costs for the following year, that might have been earned in a Stateside work opportunity.
  4. Final amount to be raised by the intern
    1. Minimum – An amount to pay for trip fees and daily rate.
    2. Maximum – An amount to pay for trip fees, daily rate plus additional funds attributed to the Stipend amount.

Leadership Training Internship – Short Term

In this internship, the intern would shadow a career missionary whose primary ministry responsibilities revolve around teaching at Zion Evangelical Bible Schools (ZEBS), Sunday School Teacher Training, or Youth Leadership Training. Pastoral/Theological/Cross-cultural Internship (6-8 weeks between May 1, 2020 to August 15, 2020)

Ministry Opportunities will be specific to each intern drawing from the following:

  • 3-5 days per week spent living in a rural community with a Zion Pastor, ministering to his community and congregation.  The number if weeks will be determined based on the intern’s needs and program emphasis.
  • Teach a theological Bible class in a cross-cultural setting, 1 to 3 times weekly.  This would include teaching through a translator. Curriculum will be provided before the intern’s departure for South Africa.
  • Preach a Biblical message in cross-cultural settings.  This would include at least one all-night amaZioni service with the possibility of other congregational services in African communities.  The intern should arrive in South Africa with two messages and/or testimonies prepared.  These outlines should be developed by the intern and will be reviewed with the ZEMA mentor-missionary before the speaking engagement.

Swaziland Teaching Internship – Short Term

The Swaziland Internship is an immediate need and opportunity at ZEMA. It would entail partnering with the Millers, our career missionaries in Swaziland, for a two month-long teaching cycle. The intern would teach two Bible lessons to adult classes at our Zion Evangelical Bible Schools (ZEBS), at fourteen locations. The intern would need to arrive one week ahead of time to get over jet-lag and prepare lessons.

Basic Qualifications:
Passionate about God’s Word.
Able to put together Bible lessons from existing material that needs to be covered in the lesson.
Must have a servant’s attitude, coming to teach but also to learn, not trying to impose western standards on other cultures.

Tech Person – Short Term

Presently ZEMA’s personnel are increasing. With the increase in personnel comes an increase in the number of computers and computer problems which arise. It would be beneficial to ZEMA to have a missionary who not only is Bible trained with a desire to teach at ZEBS, but who also has some training and an extensive knowledge of IT. This person could travel regularly to the different areas in which ZEMA ministers as an itinerant teacher and at the same time troubleshoot and assist the missionaries living in that area with their computer issues.

Qualifications:
This person should have either training in IT or extensive IT experience.
